Costume and Set Design
for Conceptual Project

[2022]

Clover (left) and Cricket (right)
A conceptual redesign and adaptation of Panic At The Disco’s Pretty. Odd. album, for which I wrote a narrative and designed for a theoretical production of the album’s tracklist.

‘CRICKET, son of JAY and brother of CLOVER, is a prolific inventor in his town. At a standstill with his creations after recieving news of a competition run by the city’s greatest council of inventors, he discovers the unfinished designs of his late mother, and sets out to complete them himself. Venturing into the city with his work, he encounters a world far removed from the home he knew.’

The album has a very specific whimsical and fantastical feel, which I wanted to thoroughly incorporate in this design. The lyrics found within the tracklist conjure up their own imagery, and tell their own stories, so the design was heavily influenced by their content, but by rearranging the order I was able to develop an original narrative. Each of the protagonists is adjacent to something found in nature which is developed through their costume design.
